9-11 happened to fall on a Sunday, so after church we went to the 9-11 memorial fields in Sandy. We talked with the kids about what happened on that day, how people came together to help save strangers who were in danger. And how important it is for us to show respect and honor for those who volunteer to defend and protect the freedoms that we enjoy. They got a chance to talk with some soldiers, Twinkle toes was surprised to learn that there are female soldiers.
Special Hat the girls made for Buba on the drive over - he insisted on wearing it (until it got too windy and blew off - then it mysteriously disappeared!)
New memorial built by the Sandy Town Hall. We met Aunt Carol Lynn, Brian and Kay Ann there, so we got a family pic.
Sandy City puts up flags each year to memorialize those that died on 9-11. This empty field is filled with hundreds of flags, each has a tag with the name and info about a person who died during those attacks.
There were lots of military vehicles that the kids could climb in and play around
